OUR HISTORY
Baalbek first opened its doors in November 2015 as the Buddha-Bar Hotel Budapest's restaurant, operated by Mellow Mood Hotels.
ABOUT THE RESTAURANT
Baalbek is a vibrant restaurant, where a picturesque riverbank setting welcomes guests into its soulful home with traditional Arabic hospitality. Its kitchen revives flavorful Lebanese culinary traditions. The broad menu offers something to everyone, its choices range from mezzes and salads to deliciously cooked meats and freshly made juices.
Our restaurant’s name, Baalbek, was inspired by the sun-city in Lebanon and happened to also have a special connection to Hungarian culture motivated by Tivadar Csontvary Kosztka’s artwork.
We opened as the first traditional Lebanese restaurant in Budapest, with the undisguised aim of bringing Middle Eastern cuisine to the capital. This ambition has not changed over the years. Our doors were wide open to all for many years until the time came for a change and the restaurant closed in 2018 due to structural changes.
THE NEW BEGINNING
In 2019 Baalbek moved a few meters away to Belgrad Rakpart 26 and we began our renovation and make-over. Today, we welcome our new and old guests with a new look, spacious interiors, a separate floor, a wonderful view and a new design. The location is new, but the oriental hospitality is the same!
Freshly-curated mezzes, colorfully concocted cocktails, sensational desserts, so you can enjoy exquisite bites whilst relaxing and laughing with your loved ones!
